History of Suburban North Lions Club

Spokane Suburban North Lions was chartered in November 1985 with initial membership totaling 25.  By the first year-end, this membership declined to a mere six.  However, through persistent and concerted effort, Spokane Suburban North Lions Club soon grew to become the third largest club in the area.

This increased membership committed itself to following those precepts outlined in what we consider very important documents  Lion Objectives and Lion Code of
Ethics.  They remain the basis of our conduct and behavior.  In addition, Spokane Suburban North keep stressing our pledge to serve the public by providing help for the sight and hearing impaired, for those who are diabetic ally afflicted and many other and varied humanitarian demands.

Spokane suburban North adopted the running lion as a logo, identifiable with Action in Motion.  It symbolizes the drive and force which has propelled the club to its present heights of prominence.

As Lions, we take special pride in this singular distinction.

Spirit of Spokane Suburban North

COMMUNICATION, CAMARADERIE, AND COMPETITION (the 3 Cs) along with Lions international slogan We Serve are bywords that has attracted and galvanized a group of interesting and diverse personalities into a matchless fraternal organization commonly known as Spokane Suburban North Lions Club.

Individuals unique in character, professional pursuits, and age (birth dates bridging some eight decades; from the 1910's to the 1980's) have been assembled, garnering talent and experience which when blended, formed a unified club that dedicated itself to a singular purpose.  That oneness has been realized by a sense, a spirit generated and fostered by conscious implementation of the 3-Cs and continuous awareness of Lions original purpose in being i.e. to serve the public.

To be sure, SNN Lions Club has already gained notable notoriety for past and on-going humanitarian contributions.  Recognizing the import and impact of our crusade, we reaffirm established goals and look forward with renewed effort, eager anticipation ..

Lions Code of Ethics

TO SHOW my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of serve.

TO SEEK success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as to my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.

TO REMEMBER that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another's to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.

WHENEVER a doubt arises as to right or ethics of my position or action towards others, to resolve such doubts against myself.

TO HOLD friendship as an end, not a means.  To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one to another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts services in the spirit in which it is given.

ALWAYS to bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state, and my community, and to give to them my unswerving loyalty in word, act and deed.  To give them freely of my time, labor and means.

TO AID others by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy.

TO BE CAREFUL with my criticism and liberal with my praise, to build up and not destroy.
