100% Lions Are being recognized on a plaque displayed at Wandermere. Watch for it! Recommendation for our club’s “Lion of the Year” should be sent to President Skip Wells at tritech@icehouse.net.
Presidents Message Fellow SSN Lions: The Dog Days of Summer are in full swing. The weather people tell us that we are going to have warm and warmer temps for the next 60 days. With that in mind all you golfers need to wear hats on the course. Those of you sitting in the shade need to keep cool drinks nearby and maintain liquid levels while you watch those on the course. Those of you who are in the bar need to hang on to those cool drinks as those players coming off the course will likely as not try to take yours from you. On that note be sure to get your Golf team reservations in for the October tournament as this will start to fill early. We recently had the 2008-2009 District Governor, Jerry Flood, make his appearance at our club. Jerry is a great speaker and probably has more knowledge about what is going on in Lions than most people today. His speech and after speech comments were most enlightening to all of us who were present. As the result we may change where we send out diabetes camp funds to Camp Slick, on the Pend Oriole River, rather than Camp Fun in the Sun in Idaho, as there will be a bigger bang for the buck. We have two speakers on tap that I think you are going to like. On Aug. 25, 2008 we have the Executive Director of the American Red Cross. She will be providing an update on their activities. On Sept. 22, 2008, we will have the head of First Night Spokane making a presentation. Please plan your calendars accordingly and try to attend these meetings. The Lion of the Year will be chosen between Sept. 8, 2008 and Sept. 22, 2008. Please provide any information on anyone whom you would like to see receive this award to Lion Jerry Walker, Mark Hund or myself. We will take your input into consideration in making a final determination. I would like to once again thank all members for your great work that you are doing and for what will be happening in the near future, Again, thank you.
Yours in Lionism, Skip Wells, President
